Sonic Vigil 3 takes place on Saturday May 24TH. Presented by the Cork Artists Collective and curated by Mick O’Shea and assisted by Danny Mc Carthy. This sound and visual art event sees its return to St Fin Barr’s Cathedral for a six hour nonstop event. This year the Yo-Yo club invited practitioners who work across a variety of disciplines to explore the possibility of working collaboratively. Practitioners include filmmakers, video artists, architect, sound artist, writers, animator, performance artists, painter and multimedia artists. In Tandem is an exhibition of these collaborative outcomes.
Audiences are free to come and go as they please over the course of the afternoon. It is due to commence at 2pm and finish at 8pm Running order for concert Concerned Parasites
A special guest will be Daniel Weiss a German sound artist and physicist from Berlin. He will be doing a sonic drawing with Mick O’Shea and also performing on the Luxophon a self made instrument. The Luxophon was created by Daniel Weiss in 2001 based on the solar sound modules by Ralf Schreiber. It’s an instrument that uses small solar panels and analogue circuit to generate various sound pattern which depends on the amount of light that reaches the surface of the solar panels. A highlight of this years event will be the inclusion of the Yo-Yo Club a new and innovative film and video collective whose works will feature as installations around the cathedral. Following on from the two hugely successful previous events in 2005 and 2007 this event is not to be missed audiences are free to come and go as they please over the course of the afternoon It is due to commence at 2 pm and finish at 8pm. |
